Many people have tried to use wallpaper in a bedroom, but only a few know how to use this material optimally. Wallpaper should not only be thrown as a way to remove blind walls. It should rather be an important player in the design of the room as a whole.
That’s why we have four fresh and easy ways to use wallpaper in a bedroom. View them to see which suggestions work best in the design of your bedroom. With a bit of luck, the wallpaper might be your favorite part of the whole room.
Set the color palette
One way to use wallpaper in your bedroom is to set the color palette for the entire project. For example, you can see that the image above has a chic monochrome palette. In it everything from the wallpaper to the blankets, bed linen and pillows come together to get a cohesive look.
If you decide to go this route, it is important to first choose a background that you like. Then build the rest of the room around it. Although you can of course participate with any aesthetic you would like, remember that the size of the pattern is important. It must be proportional to the size of the room. Larger rooms can accommodate larger patterns and vice versa.
Make an accent wall
Since wallpaper is often a style statement, it fits naturally with an accent wall. Accent walls are meant to attract attention, so this should be where you use your biggest patterns and boldest tones. Do not hesitate to do everything here.
In this case, placing your background is your most important consideration. Ideally, you want your accent wall to mark the focal point of the room because it holds the attention of the viewers. Usually, in a bedroom, this means choosing the wall at the head of the bed. As you can see in the picture above, exceptions can sometimes be made, especially if you go with a more mural-like pattern.
Make an improvised headboard
Let’s face it, furniture is expensive. If you are not quite ready to go out and invest in a high-quality headboard, wallpaper can be a cost-effective solution for you. Rolling wallpaper costs pennies on the dollar and this material can be used to make a variety of aesthetic tastes.
In this case, the actual application is your biggest concern. First you have to set it correctly. You have to measure the wallpaper so that it is slightly larger than the width of your bed. A good rule of thumb is to leave an edge of two to three inches left and right. Then there is the placement. Do your best to put the background on a smooth and unpuffed wall. If you do this, your chances of finding unpleasant air bubbles in the finished product will be reduced.
If you have a rental contract and you do not want to deal with the removal of background images at the end of your rental agreement, you do not have to worry. This do-it-yourself project is still an option for you. Instead, you simply want to use removable background.
Add some texture
Finally, you can use wallpaper to add any desired amount of texture to each room. Remember that texture in interior design refers to the way something looks as it feels. The inclusion of different textures in a room is one of the most important principles of interior design, because it makes the space visually more interesting.
No matter what type of print you use in your bedroom, your background has a texture. This is partly due to the materials used in the construction. You can certainly enhance the feeling of texture by choosing a rough-looking pattern as above.
For this we recommend to go with a print inspired by natural materials. Natural-looking prints such as wood and stone are currently very on-trend and will help you to create a look that is both modern and nuanced.
